Initiated by Temple Beth Israel, the Greater Altoona Jewish Federation has sponsored the “Love Feast” for the last four years.  The Love Feast is a community outreach program that occurs the closest Saturday to Christmas each year.  Federation volunteers provide a restaurant style dinner meal to distressed and struggling members of our community during the holiday season.  Our members cook, bake, clean and provide table service for over 125 needy neighbors and prepare another 50 meals to go from early morning to the afternoon with our youngest volunteer being three years old.  Remaining foods are donated to the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen.  This act of tzadakah is very meaningful with increasing numbers of volunteers each year.

If you would like to volunteer your time, please contact the Federation Office at (814) 515-1182. Below is a list of volunteer opportunities. Click on your area of interest for specific details about each project.
